carbonmade: Show off your work.
Let’s face it: building your artistic portfolio isn’t
exactly rocket science yet we drive our self crazy by being our own worst
critic by trying to fit all of our best work in that professional little black
sleeve holder you bought just for this occasion. Don’t forget to buy the printer
paper and make sure there is ink in the printer. On top of that, you must prep
and repair your resume that you have been neglecting for so long. When did you
make that awesome piece of artwork, three years ago? What was the name of the
committee that you were on? Crap; how long did you serve on that? Didn’t you
get an award for that one piece, and what place did you get that at? Hmmm.
Maybe…you aren’t building a portfolio for a job and just need
one to gather all your art in one place to show off besides your house, garage
or computer? Maybe… you just want to show off your artwork. Maybe…you need carbonmade! carbonmade an online portfolio site that gives us artists a chance
to show off our work and not let those pesky spiders build webs in our wallets.
carbonmade is easy
to use to upload pictures, flash projects and video. You can tell someone as
much or as little information about yourself that you want such as your name
(or nickname), e-mail, residence, phone number, general information about
yourself, your area of expertise and if you are currently looking for work.
Once you have figured out the tome of your existence and wrote it out, you can
move on to making your portfolio match your works. (I’m not sure if I would
want to look at horror and macabre pictures on a white background with a web
2.0 type font. Would you?)
There are two subscriptions that one can have at carbonmade: Meh (free) and Whoo! (paid).
The free subscription will get you 5 different projects “folders” and 35
images. The paid subscription will get you 50 projects “folders,” 500 images
and 10 videos. Both are ad free. No plastered ads over the page that would
embarrass you. No company logo stuck anywhere and on anything and even in
places you didn’t know existed. Nope. One tiny little logo at the bottom right
hand corner of the page just so everyone knows how to get back to the main page
is all that shows up (besides your own pictures of course).
carbonmade is
fast, easy and best of all – online! No carrying huge stacks of books into
interviews or making your friends stand around your computer screen to see your
newest piece. It is all at the connivance of a click of button and a few taps
on the keyboard. Take advantage of this opportunity, you might need to!
