Welcome to the most addicting game ever played. Think I’m
joking? I thought my friends were, too, until they got me started on the game.
I held out from playing this game up until two weeks ago and finally decided to
download the free 10 day trial and try it out.
That was on a Friday night… Now, only two weeks later, I’ve
logged enough hours that I have a Level 20 Night Elf Druid. I’ve been to both
major continents apart from my home island (with the help of a friend of mine
who’s Level 30), racked up some serious coins (I’m ‘Miss Money Bags’ for my
general level and area) and have some killer armor (again, from the help of my
friend). I’ve learned a new profession (Enchanting) and am seriously thinking
about my second profession in First Aid.
My main and first character,
Rydria, a Night Elf Druid, started out in town called Aldrassil. Within seconds
I was learning to control my staff, using magic to kill creatures, looting
bodies (to gain meat for health and objects to sell at the vendors) and
completing quests.
Each race (among The Alliance: Draenei, Dwarves, Gnomes,
Humans and Night Elves. The Horde includes Blood Elves, Orcs, Tauren, Trolls
and Undead) will start in their own unique starting locations, except for
Trolls and Gnomes who share their starting locations with Orcs and Dwarves.
Each race will have its own set of unique quests and each class within that
race will have its own subset. In this way, the game is different for each
character and class. [A Night Elf Druid’s quests are going to be different from
a Tauren Druid because of their own unique race quests.] Each quest will give
the player a different reward, ranging from experience points to armor and
weapons or money and, sometimes, a skill.
I soon found out that one quest will lead to another quest,
which leads to another, which then leads outside of the city to further quests
in lands unexplored and unknown cities.
I once got lost in Stormwind City, the human capital city in Azeroth.
I was following another player there via the Deeprun Tram from Ironforge (the
Dwarven capital city). It took me at least fifteen minutes to find the Flight
Master to get back to Ironforge via Gryphons, since I lost the entrance to the
Deeprun Tram. It then took me at least ten minutes to fly back to Ironforge,
then a short distance to Menethil
Harbor and then a few
minutes trip to Auberdine on a boat. I have identified only a very few of the
68 possible flight paths in –and out of- Azeroth. This doesn’t include the 27
possible flight paths in Outland in the Burning Crusade expansion.
The player will fight stronger
monsters, follow harder quests and acquire better armor and weapons as the game
progresses. This all expands the character and playing experience. Players will
master different magic, skills, talents and professions. The game can be played
solo or among a party, group or guild who can then and quest or raid together.
The game has been rather fun for me! I won’t spoil all
the surprises, so just going play the game to find out. But be warned: it gets
addicting. My name is Ashley and I am a World of Warcraft addict…
