If there is something strange in your Air Force Base and it
don’t look good, who you gonna call? Ghost Hunters!!! After years of reported
disembodied voices, apparitions and other paranormal activity in Buildings 70,
219 and the Arnold House at Wright-Patterson AFB the stars of the Sci-Fi
Channel show ‘Ghost Hunters’ were brought in to investigate. “When the Air Force calls we’re going, look at
what all they have done for us. We’re not going to turn down that opportunity,”
said Grant Wilson, who with Jason Hawes founded The Atlantic Paranormal Society
(TAPS).

It was the first Ghost Hunters investigation at an active
military installation as well as the largest investigation the team has ever
done. It is also the first three-night investigations for TAPS in the history
of the show. Wilson and Hawes hope that the willingness of the Air Force to
cooperate will help raise the credibility of their field.
While on a conference call the duo wouldn’t reveal any
specifics of what their high-tech cameras and audio equipment discovered but
promised some thrills. “It’s going to be a great episode; people are going to
be surprised. We tried some unique stuff and it is probably one of our best
investigations,” Hawes said.
Under the watchful eye of personnel from public affairs with
every step they took on the guarded base the twosome encountered several
findings of interest. “We did the best we could in the three days allowed, we
could have spent three weeks,” Wilson said.
The twosome enjoyed their stay in Dayton
and could possibly return at some point to investigate the Air Force Museum and
other locations across Ohio.
By day Wilson and Hawes are plumbers and at night they clear
out haunted places rather than drains. Their public success has not changed
their ways. “We still work for Roto-Rooters. We worked with them for years
before the show and will after it,” Wilson said.
Beginning its fourth season in March, Ghost Hunters has
traveled all across the U.S and Europe to
expose some of the most frighteningly compelling evidence of paranormal
phenomenon ever seen on television. With record high ratings the series enjoyed
its best season ever in 2007, culminating with a live episode on Halloween.
The success is more than either of them imagined even in
their wildest dreams. “I expected we would do 10 episodes and that be all.
We’re just a couple plumbers from Rhode Island and now we have one of the top
rated reality shows,” Wilson said.
Beyond the entertainment value it’s the hope of the Ghost
Hunters that the show also serves as an educational tool to help teach people
how to deal with paranormal activity and realize that it’s not always a reason
to be scared. “People wouldn’t be afraid with a snake in the house if they knew
how to handle it,” Wilson said.
Ghost Hunters airs on
the Sci-Fi Channel, Wednesdays at 9 p.m. An exact date of the airing of the
Wright- Patt episode isn’t known but is expected to be in either March or
April. Tune in to find the real hidden secrets at WPAFB.
