Fall in Hocking Hills
Hocking Hills is a magical place almost any time of year, but during October it comes to life even more.
The hills almost seem to be on fire with the amount of orange, red and yellow trees cresting each horizon.
The best part of all for Miami Valley residents is Hocking Hills is less than three hours away and accessible almost entirely by highway.
Fall is the busiest time of year at Hocking Hills and license plates from almost every state and languages from around the world can be seen and heard.
With the weather still warm enough, camping is popular in October. If this isn’t your thing, cabins can be rented, but not for less than $200 a night.
However, the cabins are probably worth much more than this and are conveniently located next to various attractions within the park. Most have private hot tubs and are located in log cabins, cabooses and other unique structures.
The Hocking Hills region is home to nine state parks, over 9,000 acres of state forest land, part of the Wayne National Forest, contains four nature preserves and one of the largest metro parks in the state. Hiking, fishing, camping, horseback riding, canoeing, rappelling, and bird watching are just a few of the activities visitors to the area enjoy.
Make sure to visit Conkles Hollow, pictured above and below as well as Old Man’s Cave and other locations seen on brown signs throughout the park.
Hocking Hills is truly a magical destination this fall. Whether a day trip or for an weekend or even week, you won’t forget the time you have in Southern Ohio.
